About TUMCREATE

TUMCREATE is a multidisciplinary research platform of the Technical University Munich (TUM) at the Singapore Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise (CREATE). We are joining forces with universities, public agencies, and industry for the advancement of future technologies.

A new multi-disciplinary project named “Centre for Energy & Emissions Modelling (CE2M) Phase 2” hosted by A*Star with TUMCREATE as one of their partners has been launched. The overall goal of this project is to provide policymakers with a toolbox to explore pathways to “net zero” in Singapore. For this purpose, an existing model integration framework shall be enhanced through a systems of system modelling & simulation approach. Different models will be coupled using interfaces that enable them to communicate with one another.

Objective of the position:

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer who will work on building interfaces between models and to expand existing models to facilitate model coupling. This is a 24-month fixed term contract with the possibility of extension.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Familiarise with and review existing models developed by the project partners.
  • Identify weak points of the models, particularly with regards to interfacing them with other models.
  • Define and implement interfaces between the models.
  • Contribute to the development of a system-of-systems model that includes all models.
  • Presentation of the results in at least one international scientific journal.

 

Job Requirements:

  • PhD or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field from a reputable university.
  • Knowledge of software development and versioning systems.
  • Programming knowledge of Python.
  • Experience in software modelling, preferably in the field of energy and power systems.
  • Knowledge of energy and power systems is preferable.
  • Knowledge of the tools URBS and TIMES is a plus.
  • Ability to interact with other researchers and define a working structure.
  • Good English writing and communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills for working in an international research team with people of different backgrounds.
