The LightSPAN project is funded by the National Research Foundation of Singapore and aims to investigate how we can optimize light exposure to support health and well-being across the lifespan, with a specific focus on optimizing light exposure in seniors.

About the LightSPAN Research Group

The collaborative project is led by Prof. Dr. Manuel Spitschan (TUMCREATE/TUM) and Asst. Prof. Raymond Najjar (NUS). The focus of the work performed as part of this position is a clinical trial investigating the use of cutting-edge behavioural digital-health interventions to promote healthy light exposure in ageing.

At TUMCREATE, you will work in the Integrative Digital Health and Medicine Group. The Group is part of the Translational Sensory and Circadian Neuroscience Unit linking TUM, the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics and TUMCREATE.

Job Purpose/Objective of the Position:

As a Research Assistant in the LightSPAN Project, you will play a crucial role in the successful implementation and progress of a study focused on optimizing light exposure for senior citizens. Your responsibilities will include various aspects of the trial, such as participant recruitment, maintaining contact with participants, logistical planning, and handling participant remuneration. Your contributions will significantly impact the advancement of our research and help us achieve our project goals. You will be an integral part of a dynamic research team. This is a fixed term contract until August 2026.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support and manage the execution of a clinical trial, ensuring adherence to protocols and timelines
  • Carry out participant recruitment efforts, including advertising, screening, and enrolment processes and front-line facing responsibilities
  • Serve as point of contact for trial participants, addressing their questions and concerns, and providing necessary information
  • Assist with planning and logistics for trial visits, ensuring a smooth and comfortable experience for participants throughout the trial
  • Handle participant remuneration processes and ensure accurate compensation
  • Collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary LightSPAN team

Job Requirements/Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, including project management, administration, psychology, health sciences, public health or similar from a reputable university.
  • Fresh graduates with an outgoing personality and relevant internship experience may apply. Guidance and coaching will be provided.
  • Demonstrated experience (at least 12 months) in project management and use of project management tools
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently
