Vanesa Calvo-Baltanas obtained her PhD 'control of plant meiosis using virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS)' from Wageningen University. After that, she joined as postdoctoral researcher at Wageningen University, Hamburg University and NUS. In these institutions she worked in projects related to plant genetics, plant reproduction, and plant breeding. She is currently a research fellow at TUM CREATE where she is working on the optimization of controlled-environment agriculture (CEA) to cultivate soybean indoors, which is one of the milestones of Proteins4Singapore.
